Puy du Fou
LE PUY DU FOU - les Epesses (5 km from the campsite)
An absolutely magnificent journey back in time!
The world's first theme park, Le Puy du Fou is well deserving of this honour: breathtaking shows, poetry, special effects and a look back at history that's not to be missed...
You'll meet Marguerite, Joan of Arc's ally, Childéric and Cybèle facing the cruel Vikings, Damien prey to Caesar's vengeance, Buttercup and Seraphina and Richelieu's musketeers, the naval officer Charette, figure of the insurrection during the Vendée wars, Aliénor and Héloise surrounded by their majestic birds, and many more!
Between drakkars, dungeons, castle rooms, a rose garden, mythical craftsmen, a ship and the trenches of Verdun, you'll cross the boundaries of time and cross the great lines of history guided by the emotions of these adventures.
Our advice:
- You need at least two days to fully enjoy the park.
- The Puy du fou car parks are FREE of charge
- Make sure you have shoes suitable for walking!
- Most of the shows take place outdoors, so don't forget your cap in case of hot weather and your raincoat in case of rain (unfortunately, it does happen!).
- The advantage of the 2 or 3 day pass is that you can see shows you've enjoyed again. You'll see all sorts of things you didn't notice the first time around...
- Don't forget to visit the craftsmen and women in the various villages (fort from the year 1000, village, 18th century, medieval town) who will show you their ancestral techniques of blacksmithing, leatherwork, illumination, clog-making, in the company of a master glassmaker, cooper and many other artists.
- After watching the "ghost bird ball", we recommend you head out to the falconry, where you can watch the birds return to their natural habitat and talk to the falconers.
- You can picnic in the park (please note that knives are not allowed at the entrance).
