Leisure parks and visits
The Château de Barbe Bleue in Tiffauges (29 km).
Catapult trials, knightly combat, a tour of the castle, shows and entertainment for all the family and, of course, the story of the famous Gilles de Rais, friend of Joan of Arc, told by excellent actors!
Our advice: You'll need at least an afternoon to explore the Bluebeard castle.
Futuroscope (199 km)
"La Cité du Futur" has now been running for 30 years, and every year it continues to expand its range of scientific, multimedia, robotic and cinematic events. For the pleasure of the eyes and the sensations of the body!
Planète Sauvage in Nantes (113 km)
To be able to admire wild animals in complete freedom is a privilege.
In this 130-hectare site with 2,000 animals, including 200 different species, you choose part of your walk in your car, a 4×4 or a specially equipped truck to get as close as possible to the animals. Very impressive!
Our advice: A must-see!
The machines on the island of Nantes (88 km)
A must-see attraction in Nantes since 2004, this island is populated by strange creatures straight out of the imagination of its two designers, who would not have denied Jules Verne.
It's an original, fun project: showing how gigantic mechanical animals are made, from the sketch to the finished machine. It's a feast for the eyes to see a giant 12-metre, 48-tonne elephant literally walking around - and you can even climb inside to experience its peregrinations!
There's also a manta ray, the future heron tree - currently under construction - and the sea serpent.
Mesnil la Barotière leisure centre (17 km)
A 17-hectare lake welcomes you for all kinds of outdoor activities. You can enjoy swimming or fishing.
There are several picnic areas where you can enjoy lunch in the heart of nature, as well as a riverside crèperie. There are also pedalos, kayaks, mini golf and the Tépacap adventure park, with tree courses for all ages as well as archery and paint ball.
Our advice: Swimming is free, unlike all other activities.
Poupet valley at Saint Malo du bois (11 km)
Renowned for its music festival, which has been held in July every year for the past thirty years, Poupet is also a wonderful place to take a number of walks along the Sèvre Nantaise, including the SM01 short hike.
There's also a canoeing and kayaking base for the more adventurous!
